NDP3

Finally, Ian's wait for the NDP parade is over. It may only be the preview but Ian won't know the difference. Tried explaining to him but.....

I think the burning questions in his little mind are...

"Why is it not August yet and the parade is here?"

"How come mommy said I must wait till August to see the parade?"

We parked the car at Tanjong Rhu. Walked really far but the kids did not complain. You can tell the excitement in them.

I won't write too much about the parade. Let the pictures and video tell the story. Note that the video only captured events until the march past (7pm). Wanna watch the rest? Catch it live on TV on National Day!

NDP 2

We managed to exchange our 2 tickets (actual day) for 4 preview tickets. This way, all of us can attend the parade.

Ai Peng had the following conversation with Ian.

TAP: Ian, we have 4 tickets now. Who should go?

Ian: Me, daddy, mommy...... and......... aunty (domestic help)

TAP: Kor kor???

Ian: No.... he went last year already.

NDP

Last year I brought Ryan to the NDP. Just him and me because I only managed to get 2 tickets.

Sometime in May/June this year, Ian kept asking me if I can bring him to this year's NDP. He kept emphasising that I can only bring him because kor kor has gone last year. I told him it is difficult to get tickets but that look in his eyes tell me he really wanted to go. It is sad to disappoint him.

Thank God, my sister got 2 tickets and offered them to me. Since then, Ian has been looking forward to Aug 9. And when he sees the NDP trailers on TV, he gets excited.

Almost daily, he will ask me or his mommy.

Ian: Mommy, is it August already?

Ian: Daddy, what day is it today?

Ian: How many days more to National day?

I have been teasing him by saying I may not be free to go.... can i bring kor kor instead?...... can i bring mommy instead?.... blah blah blah....

He insist these 2 tickets are for ME and HIM only.

Of course, Ryan is disappointed he can't be there this year.

I hope to have 2 more tickets for actual day. Anyone know how I can get them?

Turn on the TV

I came home from work one evening last week and sat on the sofa feeling lazy. Ian was eating some fruits on the coffee table. Ryan was at the dining table eating some jelly.

Me: Who can help me turn on the TV?

(no reply from anyone)

Me: Ian, can you help me turn on the TV?

(Ian shook his head without even turning to look at me)

Me: Ian? Daddy is talking to you.

Ian: I am eating fruits.

Me: Can you help me turn on the TV?

Ian: I say I am eating fruits.

Ryan: Daddy, I have some jelly. Do you want?

Me: No thank you. You can finish all of them. No need to keep for Ian. He is eating fruits.

Ian: (Immediately) Ok... I turn on the TV.

(I burst out laughing at Ian's response.)

Ryan: (circling his finger on his temple telling me Ian is crazy) Daddy, post it on the blog. Very funny.

Ian - the artist

Ian has got a new interest..... Painting!

Recently, he has been playing with water colours and drawn some very abstract art. He is always very proud whenever he finished one piece. Always very eager to show it to me. Don't ask me what he is drawing but I think they are beautiful.

Enjoy the video.

Ryan is 8 today

Ryan is 8 years old today.

After I sent Ian to childcare this morning, I went home to pick Ryan to send him to Lorna Winston. When he got into the car, I had the following conversation with him.

Me: Happy Birthday Ryan!

(Ryan kept quiet and looked grouchy. Maybe it was too early and he did not get enough sleep)

Me: Why? Tired is it? My boy is 8 years old already. A big boy now.

Ryan: I should be much older than 8 years old. (still grouchy)

Me: Is it? (I started counting in my heart. I thought I remembered his age wrongly)

Ryan: Yes. I look much older.

Me: Who says so?

Ryan: YES! I HAVE A MOUSTACHE ! (looking exasperated and pointing to his upper lips)

Me: (I took a closer look and trying to console him) Never mind la, a little bit only.

Ryan: Not a bit, ok?!!

Me: You are a big boy mah. When you grow older, you will need to shave like daddy lor.

Ryan: Sigh...

Me: How many teeth have you dropped?

Ryan: (showed me a "4" sign)

Me: How many new ones have you grown?

Ryan: 2 only. Sigh... still dropping teeth and I got a moustache.

High fever

Ian is sick.

He has intermittent high fever for a week already. I say intermittent because his temperature can go above 39 degrees for some hours but recover completely after inserting a suppository. Oral medication has not been effective so far.

Within a 24-hour period, his temperature fluctuates between 37-40 degrees depending on when we insert the suppository.

We have consulted the doctor. He suggested a blood test. We will do it soon.

Afternote: Ian has recovered already. Thank God.
