Parent-Teacher session

Attended a parent-teacher session at Ryan's school this morning. Met his form teacher and Chinese teacher separately.

As usual, such sessions are devoted to discussing ways to co-operate with the school to improve the students. Hence, we normally emphasise those areas that need improvements. Ryan is generally a good boy and academically competent but...........................

Comments from his form teacher

Ryan is one of the quieter boys in class. He is more comfortable in the company of the quieter girls than the boisterous guys. He is not as competitive also. For example, while queueing up for a race, he has no problems if anyone cuts his queue. She said he is the "gentleman" type. Always giving in. We need to toughen him up in case he gets bullied. And bullying is common in school nowadays.

He has potential to do better than his current results. Most of the marks lost are due to carelessness. He should have achieved band one for both English and Maths if he bother to check his papers before submission. She felt he hasn't matured to know the importance of studies yet. He needs to mature by next semester because it's streaming time. The final year results will affect his postings for next year.

Comments from his Chinese teacher

Ryan is forgetful. His first comments revolve around Ryan not bringing books and assessments to school repeatedly. He also mentioned Ryan is quick to lose concentration in class. He likes to chat with the girl next to him.

He has no other problems with Ryan since he has scored well for Chinese. I feel the tuition has helped considering we speak more English at home.

Today is the start of the mid-year school holidays. Ryan is suffering from some stomach flu. He visited the toilet 8 times yesterday and has a fever. Mommy has brought him to the doctor and he is resting at home now.
